Offsiteio vs Vrbo for team retreats
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and a planner on site. Free proposal in 48 hours.
Offsiteio is the author of this comparison and an interested party. We've stuck to what Vrbo publishes on vrbo.com and its help center, read in October 2026 and linked at the end. If Vrbo has changed a policy, please flag it and we'll update.
In short: Vrbo rents you an entire vacation home, and the rest of the retreat is yours to organize. Offsiteio plans and runs the whole team offsite and prices it as one itemized number per person. A Vrbo can make a lovely base for a small team. The question is how much of the cooking, driving, scheduling and troubleshooting you want to own.
Vrbo vs Offsiteio at a glance
What Vrbo gives you
Vrbo is all about whole homes. Its VrboCare page says shared homes, interior cameras and unannounced host visits aren't allowed on the platform, which matters when colleagues are sharing a house. If a host cancels, or the home is "significantly different than listed," Vrbo says it will help you find a similar place or get your reservation refunded, and its support is available 24/7. It also says costs such as cleaning fees and damage deposits are shown upfront (VrboCare, checked Oct 2026).
On fees, Vrbo charges travelers a service fee calculated as a percentage of the reservation total before taxes and refundable fees, and says the percentage varies with the reservation amount (Vrbo help, checked Oct 2026).
What we didn't find on Vrbo's site: anything aimed at companies. No business booking program, meeting space, catering or event help. Its own copy talks about helping "your family relax, reconnect." That's not a criticism; it's just a different product. A team retreat on Vrbo is a DIY project with a great house at the center.
What Offsiteio adds
We plan the retreat around what the team needs to get done. Send headcount, dates and goals, and within 48 hours you'll get a free proposal: two or three destination options, each with one per-person price, itemized by lodging, meeting space, meals, activities, transfers and coordination. No commitment to see it.
From there, our team books the hotel and meeting space, plans meals around the agenda, arranges activities and transfers, and has someone on site from arrival to departure. Real trips have landed between about $1,450 and $2,402 per person. Flights are quoted separately. We plan drive-to retreats as well as destination trips, and we're rated 5.0 on Google across 17 reviews.

Go with Offsiteio if…
- You need breakout rooms, a projector and catering timed to sessions
- Headcount is beyond what one house can hold
- Leadership expects a smooth experience and you'd like to attend, not host
