Sales kickoff planning

Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and a planner on site. Free proposal in 48 hours.

A sales kickoff has to do three things at once: teach the new plan, celebrate last year's wins and send a room full of reps into Q1 believing they can hit the number. The content belongs to your CRO and enablement team. The hotel, the stage, the awards dinner and the 140 flights landing on Monday afternoon can belong to us.

What a great SKO delivers

  • Clarity: every rep leaves knowing the territory plan, the comp changes, the ideal customer profile and the product story.
  • Skills: hands-on sessions on discovery, new messaging and objection handling, beyond the slides.
  • Recognition: top performers celebrated in front of their peers.
  • Energy: a shared experience that carries into January pipeline.

Sample 3-day sales kickoff agenda

Day 1: Arrive and set the tone

  • Afternoon arrivals with transfers timed to flights
  • Opening reception: walk-in music, name badges, a short welcome from the CRO

Day 2: The plan

  • General session: last year's results, this year's targets, strategy and product roadmap
  • Breakouts by segment or region: territory planning and messaging workshops
  • Role-play rounds with enablement and frontline managers
  • Awards dinner recognizing top performers

Day 3: Skills and send-off

  • Customer panel or a guest speaker
  • Deal clinics with sales leadership
  • Closing session with commitments, then a team activity before departures

Where to hold a sales kickoff

SKOs favor cities with big group hotels, easy flights and plenty to do in the evenings. A few that work well:

DestinationWhy it works for an SKOFrom, per person*
Las VegasNonstops from most US cities, huge meeting capacity, shows for the whole team$1,400
NashvilleLarge downtown hotels and live-music evenings$1,200
AustinTech-savvy venues and a walkable downtown$1,450
MiamiA warm-weather January kickoff with beachfront hotels$1,549
Riviera MayaA resort setting for a kickoff paired with a reward trip$1,100

SKO, incentive trip or both?

Some companies combine the kickoff with a reward for last year's top performers. The full team attends the working days, then the winners stay on for an extra night or two at a resort. Others keep them separate: a working SKO in January and a President's Club trip later in the year. Combining them saves a round of flights and raises the energy at the kickoff. Separating them keeps the reward trip feeling exclusive. Either way, we'll price both versions so leadership can decide with real numbers in front of them.

SKO timing: book earlier than you think

Most sales kickoffs land in January or early February. That window is busy for group hotels, and it falls right after the holidays, when nobody wants to be chasing contracts. Start planning in late summer or early fall for a January kickoff. Larger groups should start even earlier to secure a single hotel with a ballroom and enough breakout rooms.

What we handle for your SKO

  • Shortlisting hotels with a general session room, breakouts and an awards dinner space
  • Contracting rooms, meeting space, food and beverage, AV and staging
  • Rooming lists, dietary needs, airport transfers and a run-of-show with every session timed
  • Recognition dinner logistics and evening activities
  • On-site coordination, so sales ops and enablement can focus on content
  • One upfront price per person, itemized, with planning and on-site coordination included and flights quoted separately

SKO mistakes to avoid

  • Back-to-back slides. Reps tune out after a few hours of presentations. Mix in workshops and role-plays.
  • Skipping managers' prep. Frontline managers run the breakouts, so brief them first.
  • Underestimating AV. A dropped mic or a projector glitch in a general session costs momentum. Budget for proper production.
  • No follow-through. Turn SKO commitments into Q1 pipeline goals and review them in February.

Sales kickoff planning FAQs

When should we start planning a sales kickoff?

For a January SKO, start in late summer or early fall. Larger groups that need a big ballroom and many breakout rooms should start earlier.

How much does a sales kickoff cost per person?

Our destination packages start from $1,100 per person, and full multi-day programs we've planned have run $1,450 to $2,402 per person. AV and staging needs can move the number. Flights are quoted separately.

What is the best city for a sales kickoff?

Cities with large group hotels and easy flights work best, such as Las Vegas, Nashville, Austin and Miami. The right choice depends on where your reps are based.

Can you organize the awards dinner?

Yes. We handle the venue, menu, staging and run-of-show for recognition moments. Your team decides the awards and the winners.

Do you work with our sales enablement team?

Yes. Enablement owns the content and we own the logistics, from room sets and AV to session timing and transfers.
