Corporate retreat locations in Spain
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Spain gives a team almost every kind of retreat in one country: two big capitals with nonstop US flights, Mediterranean islands, Andalusian cities built for long evenings, a Basque coast known for its food, and Atlantic islands that stay warm in winter. High-speed trains link many of the mainland cities, so a two-stop program is easy to run.
Below are eight corporate retreat locations in Spain, each with the group it suits, typical sizes, venue styles, the months to aim for and approximate transfer times. One thing to plan for everywhere: dinner starts late, often at 9 p.m. or after.
Where to hold a corporate retreat in Spain
Madrid
Best for: large meetings and culture-rich team offsites with world-class museums and tapas bars. Group size: 20 to 600. Venue type: Gran Vía and Castellana business hotels, palace-style properties and event venues in restored buildings. Season: March to June and September to November; July and August are very hot. Getting there: about 20 to 30 minutes from Madrid-Barajas to the center. See our Madrid offsite guide.
Barcelona
Best for: tech and design teams that want architecture, beaches and a long list of evening options. Group size: 20 to 600. Venue type: beachfront and Eixample hotels, design boutiques and rooftop event spaces. Season: April to June and September to October; the mobile industry congress in late February or early March sends hotel prices sharply up. Getting there: about 25 to 30 minutes from El Prat to the center. Our Barcelona offsite guide has a full plan.
Mallorca
Best for: incentive trips and team offsites that combine coves, cycling roads and old-town Palma. Group size: 15 to 400. Venue type: resorts along the coast, rural estates (fincas) and boutique hotels in Palma. Season: April to June and September to October. Getting there: about 20 minutes from Palma's airport to the city, usually after a short flight from Madrid or Barcelona.
Valencia
Best for: value-minded team offsites with beaches, a modern science-and-arts complex and the home of paella. Group size: 15 to 400. Venue type: city and beachfront hotels plus conference spaces. Season: March to June and September to November; the Fallas festival in mid-March is spectacular but loud and crowded. Getting there: about 20 to 25 minutes from Valencia's airport, or roughly 2 hours by high-speed train from Madrid.
Seville
Best for: smaller culture-focused retreats with flamenco, tiled courtyards and orange-tree streets. Group size: 15 to 250. Venue type: palace hotels, boutique properties in the old quarter and countryside estates. Season: March to May and October to November; summer heat is extreme, and Holy Week and the April Fair fill every room. Getting there: about 20 minutes from Seville's airport, or roughly 2.5 hours by high-speed train from Madrid.
Malaga and Marbella
Best for: sales kickoffs and incentive trips that want golf, beaches and a lively city nearby. Group size: 20 to 500. Venue type: golf and beach resorts on the Costa del Sol and modern hotels in Malaga. Season: March to June and September to November; winter is mild. Getting there: about 15 minutes from Malaga airport to the city, or roughly 45 minutes to Marbella.
Bilbao and San Sebastián
Best for: food-first team offsites with pintxos bars, a famous modern art museum and surf beaches. Group size: 10 to 250. Venue type: design hotels in Bilbao, belle-époque seafront hotels in San Sebastián and wine-country estates in nearby Rioja. Season: May to October; it rains more here than in the south. Getting there: about 20 minutes from Bilbao's airport to the city, and roughly 1.25 hours by car to San Sebastián.
Canary Islands
Best for: winter offsites with volcanic landscapes, hiking and warm Atlantic beaches. Group size: 15 to 400. Venue type: resorts and conference hotels on Tenerife and Gran Canaria, plus smaller design stays on Lanzarote. Season: year-round, and especially November to April. Getting there: roughly 2.5 hours by air from Madrid, then about 20 to 45 minutes from the airport to most resorts.

Choosing a Spanish location by goal
For a team flying in from across the US, Madrid and Barcelona are the obvious bases: the most nonstop flights, the most meeting space and plenty to do at night. If the goal is a reward trip, Mallorca and the Costa del Sol put a pool and the sea next to the meeting room. A leadership group that wants to talk over long meals will love the Basque Country. In winter, the Canaries and the Costa del Sol are among the warmest places in Europe.
Build the schedule around Spanish hours. Sessions can run from 9 a.m. to early afternoon, followed by a long lunch, a free afternoon and a late dinner. Fighting the local rhythm usually means empty restaurants at 7 p.m. and a tired team. Our offsite agenda template makes it easy to plan around this.
Budget and planning notes
Trade fairs and festivals move prices more than seasons do in the big cities, so check the Barcelona and Madrid event calendars before fixing dates. August is holiday month: some city restaurants close and the coasts are full. Inland Andalusia in summer is uncomfortably hot. High-speed trains are often cheaper and faster than short flights for mainland transfers. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Spain corporate retreat FAQs
Is Madrid or Barcelona better for a company retreat?
Barcelona has the beach and suits tech and creative teams; Madrid is the bigger airline hub and is often a little less expensive. Both have the hotel capacity for large groups.
When should we avoid Spain for an offsite?
Avoid inland cities like Seville and Madrid in July and August because of the heat. In Barcelona, check for big trade fairs, and in Seville, avoid Holy Week and the April Fair unless the festival is the point.
How do we fit Spain's late dinners into a work agenda?
Start sessions a little later, keep a long lunch and schedule free time in the late afternoon. Dinner at 9 p.m. then feels natural rather than exhausting.
Can we combine two Spanish destinations in one retreat?
Yes. High-speed trains connect Madrid with Barcelona, Seville, Valencia and Malaga in a few hours, so a city-plus-coast split works well for four or five days.
