Madrid is Spain's capital and its most business-ready city: grand boulevards, world-famous museums, a huge restaurant scene and nightlife that starts when other cities are winding down. It's a great pick for a team that wants a European offsite with polish and energy, and strong flight connections from both the US and Latin America.

Why Madrid works for a company offsite

Madrid is a hub. Its airport, Barajas, has some of the best links between Europe and Latin America, plus nonstop service to several US cities. If your team includes people in Mexico City, Bogotá or Buenos Aires as well as New York and London, Madrid can be the easiest place for everyone to meet.

The city also gives a strategy offsite room to breathe. Mornings can be heads-down in a hotel meeting room. Afternoons can include a walk through Retiro Park or a guided hour at the Prado. Evenings follow the Spanish rhythm, with tapas around 8 and dinner at 9 or later. That pace gives people natural time to talk.

And Madrid feels distinct from Barcelona. It's more inland and more about its institutions, with an elegance that suits leadership teams and client-facing offsites.

Best time for a Madrid offsite

April to June and late September to October are ideal, with warm days and comfortable evenings. July and August are very hot, often well above 95°F, and many locals leave the city in August. Winters are cool but sunny, and hotel rates can be attractive outside major trade fair weeks.

Our sample package uses the Meliá Madrid Serrano in the upscale Salamanca district. It's a modern hotel with spacious rooms, a fitness center, several dining options and well-equipped meeting rooms. Salamanca is elegant and calm at night, but still within reach of the museums and the old center.

Groups that want to be in the thick of things can look at hotels near Gran Vía or Plaza de Santa Ana. We'll price both.
