Barcelona is where we've run some of our favorite international offsites, including a startup's quarterly kickoff. After one Barcelona trip, Gabby, a Startup Event Manager, wrote to us: "Everyone had a blast. Everything was seamless and that's all thanks to you guys." Here's what a Barcelona company offsite looks like when it's done well.
Why Barcelona for a team offsite
Barcelona packs architecture, beach, food and nightlife into a walkable city. On a three-day trip, your team can stand inside the Sagrada Família, eat tapas in a converted 19th-century hall and still put in two focused days of work. Few cities give a US team that much "we're somewhere special" with so little travel friction once they've landed.
It's also a natural pick for companies with people on both sides of the Atlantic. Engineers in Europe can fly in cheaply, while the US contingent gets nonstops from the East Coast. Barcelona's startup scene means plenty of modern coworking space, so you don't have to rely on a dated hotel ballroom for sessions.
One thing to plan for is the late rhythm of the city. Dinner at nine is normal. We build agendas that start the mornings a little later and give people a real break in the afternoon.
Best time of year for Barcelona
May, June, September and early October are ideal: warm, bright and good for evenings outdoors. August is hot and crowded with tourists, and some local businesses close for holidays. Steer clear of Mobile World Congress in late February or early March. It fills the city's hotels and drives up prices.
3-day Barcelona offsite itinerary (sample)
Day 1: Arrive in Eixample
- Morning arrivals after overnight flights, then early check-in where possible at H10 Art Gallery
- Rest, then a relaxed evening on the hotel's rooftop terrace
- Late welcome dinner at El Nacional, with separate corners for seafood, meats and tapas under one restored roof
Day 2: Sessions and Gaudí
- Working sessions at Aticco Urquinaona, a coworking space in central Barcelona
- Long Spanish lunch, then a guided visit to La Sagrada Família
- Evening free to explore, or an optional group outing
Day 3: Old city and wrap-up
- Closing session in the morning
- Guided walk through the Gothic Quarter, past Barcelona Cathedral and Plaça Reial
- Afternoon at Park Güell, followed by a farewell dinner. Most teams fly home the next morning.
Where teams stay in Barcelona
Our sample package uses H10 Art Gallery, a boutique hotel in the Eixample with modern art throughout and a rooftop terrace with a plunge pool. Eixample's grid of wide streets is easy for a group to navigate and sits between the old town and Gràcia.
For sessions we pair it with Aticco Urquinaona, a coworking space with private offices, fast internet and fully equipped meeting rooms. If your group is larger, we can quote hotels with built-in conference floors.
Team activities in Barcelona
- La Sagrada Família: Gaudí's basilica, still under construction after more than a century. Timed group entry needs booking in advance.
- Gothic Quarter walk: narrow medieval lanes that open into squares. It pairs well with a tapas crawl.
- Park Güell: mosaic terraces with city views, best in the late afternoon light.
- Beach time at Barceloneta: a low-key option for a free afternoon in warmer months.
Barcelona offsite pricing
Barcelona starts from $1,650 per person, with flights quoted separately. Spring and fall carry the strongest demand, and conference weeks can add a premium. Your proposal shows the lodging, meals, meeting space and activities line by line. Read how we price trips on our pricing page.
Getting to Barcelona from the US
Approximate flying times (always check current routes, since some services are seasonal):
- New York (JFK or Newark): around 7.5 to 8 hours nonstop
- Miami: around 9 hours nonstop
- Chicago and Atlanta: around 9 hours where nonstop service operates, otherwise one connection
- West Coast: usually one connection, roughly 14 to 16 hours door to door
Barcelona is 6 hours ahead of US Eastern time, so most US flights arrive in the morning. Our sample hotel is about 20 minutes from El Prat airport.

Barcelona corporate offsite FAQs
How much does a corporate offsite in Barcelona cost?
Our Barcelona package starts from $1,650 per person, excluding airfare, which we quote separately. Season, hotel and how many dinners are hosted set the final number.
How long should a Barcelona offsite be for a US team?
Plan on at least three nights on the ground. Overnight flights and the 6-hour time difference mean the first day is lighter, so a longer stay gives you two solid working days.
Has Offsiteio planned offsites in Barcelona before?
Yes. We've run Barcelona programs for startup teams, including a quarterly kickoff, and Barcelona is the source of our testimonial from Gabby, a Startup Event Manager.
When should we avoid Barcelona?
Mobile World Congress in late February or early March fills hotels across the city. August is hot and crowded, with some local closures.
Do team members need a visa for Spain?
US passport holders can usually visit Spain visa-free for short stays, but entry rules change, including Europe's new travel authorization systems. Each traveler should check current requirements for their own passport.
