Corporate retreat in Sardinia: venues, activities and a 3-day plan

Sardinia is a strong choice for a summer-season offsite where the beach is the point: clear water, long stretches of sand, and resorts that run sport, sailing and team-building programs on their own grounds. It suits sales incentives, team celebrations and leadership retreats from about 20 people up to several hundred at the largest resorts.
The key decision is north or south. The Costa Smeralda around Olbia is glamorous and expensive; the south around Cagliari has big family-friendly resorts, a real city and often better value. The island is large, so pick one end and stay there.
Why Sardinia works for a team offsite
- Three airports. Olbia serves the north-east coast, Cagliari the south and Alghero the north-west. Most US teams connect through a European hub. Porto Cervo is about 30 minutes from Olbia, and the southern resorts at Chia and Villasimius are roughly an hour from Cagliari.
- Resorts built for groups. The larger southern resorts have conference rooms, several restaurants and sports facilities, so a group can stay put for the whole trip.
- Room to spread out. Low-rise resorts set back from the sea give a team space for breakouts on terraces and lawns.
- A city option. Cagliari has business hotels, a historic center and a seafront, which helps when you need a cheaper or year-round base.
- The caveat is seasonality. Many beach resorts close from roughly November to April, and north-to-south drives take about three hours or more, so the island does not suit a multi-base tour.
Best time for a corporate retreat in Sardinia
Late May, June, September and early October give warm sea temperatures and resort facilities at full service without the August crush. July is hot and busy, and August on the Costa Smeralda brings peak prices, yacht crowds and minimum stays. In spring and late autumn some resorts open only part of their facilities, so confirm which restaurants and pools will be running. Winter suits only a Cagliari city program.

Budget and planning notes
On the Costa Smeralda, July and August rates are among the highest in the Mediterranean, while the southern resorts and the shoulder months cost far less. Private boats are priced per vessel and fill quickly in summer, and coach transfers matter more here because resorts sit outside the towns. Booking the same island in early June instead of August can change the budget more than any venue choice. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Most beach resorts run from about April or May to October and close in winter. Cagliari city hotels stay open year-round.
How do we get to Sardinia from the US?
Connect through a European hub such as Rome or Milan into Olbia, Cagliari or Alghero. Choose the airport closest to your resort to keep transfers to about an hour or less.
How many days should a Sardinia offsite be?
Three days works for a focused trip. Four gives time for a full boat day without losing a working session.
