Corporate retreat locations in Italy
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Italy is the retreat people say yes to before they read the agenda. Food, wine, art and scenery are strong almost everywhere, and the range is wide: a capital full of history, a design-focused business city, lakes, hill towns, a canal city, a cliff coast, olive-grove farmhouses and the Dolomites. Rome and Milan both have nonstop flights from many US hubs.
The trade-off is logistics. Many of the most beautiful places are small, seasonal or slow to reach, so matching the location to your group size matters more here than in most countries. Below are eight options with sizes, venue styles, timing and approximate travel times.
Where to hold a corporate retreat in Italy
Rome
Best for: large team offsites that want history on every corner and plenty of dinner options. Group size: 20 to 600. Venue type: grand city hotels, palazzo event venues and conference properties on the outskirts. Season: April to June and September to October; July and August are hot and crowded. Getting there: about 30 minutes by express train from Fiumicino to Termini, or roughly 45 minutes by car to the center. See our Rome retreat guide.
Milan and Lake Como
Best for: combining a business day in Milan with a lakeside retreat of villas, boats and gardens. Group size: 15 to 400 in Milan; 10 to 150 on the lake. Venue type: modern and design hotels in Milan, historic villa hotels and event villas around Como, Cernobbio and Bellagio. Season: April to October on the lake; Milan's April design week and fashion weeks spike prices. Getting there: about 50 minutes from Malpensa to central Milan, and roughly 1 to 1.5 hours from Malpensa to the lake. Read our Lake Como guide.
Florence
Best for: culture-heavy offsites with Renaissance art, leather and paper workshops, and Tuscan cooking. Group size: 15 to 300. Venue type: historic center hotels, Renaissance palazzi and hillside villas just outside town. Season: April to June and September to October. Getting there: about 1.5 hours by high-speed train from Rome or about 2 hours from Milan; Florence's own airport is small. See our Florence guide.
Tuscany countryside
Best for: leadership retreats and small team offsites that want a private villa or wine estate. Group size: 8 to 100. Venue type: wine estates, restored farmhouses (agriturismi), castle hotels and villa buyouts in Chianti, Val d'Orcia and the coast. Season: May to October; September and October bring the harvest. Getting there: about 1 to 1.5 hours by car from Florence to most Chianti and Siena-area estates. Read our Tuscany retreat guide.
Venice
Best for: smaller culture trips where getting around by boat is part of the experience. Group size: 10 to 200. Venue type: palazzo hotels on the canals, island resorts in the lagoon and historic event halls. Season: April to June and September to October; Carnival in February and high-water days in late fall need planning. Getting there: about 30 to 45 minutes by water taxi or bus and boat from Venice's airport.
Amalfi Coast and Sorrento
Best for: incentive trips and executive retreats with cliffside views, boat days and lemon groves. Group size: 10 to 150. Venue type: cliff-top hotels in Positano, Amalfi and Ravello, with larger properties in Sorrento. Season: May to early October; many hotels close from November to March. Getting there: roughly 1.5 to 2 hours by car from Naples airport, and the coast road is narrow, so plan smaller vehicles.
Puglia
Best for: relaxed team retreats in whitewashed towns and fortified farmhouses among olive groves. Group size: 10 to 200. Venue type: masserie (fortified farm estates), coastal resorts and boutique hotels in towns like Ostuni and Lecce. Season: May to June and September to October; August is busy with Italian holidaymakers. Getting there: about 45 minutes to 1 hour by car from Bari or Brindisi airports, usually after a connection in Rome or Milan.
The Dolomites
Best for: active teams that want alpine hiking or skiing, spa hotels and mountain huts. Group size: 10 to 200. Venue type: alpine resorts and spa hotels in Alta Badia, Val Gardena and Cortina. Season: mid-June to September for hiking and December to March for skiing; many hotels close between seasons. Getting there: roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by car from Venice, Verona or Innsbruck airports.

Choosing an Italian location by goal
Large groups do best in Rome or Milan, where meeting space and hotel rooms are plentiful and airports are close. If the trip is about strategy with a small leadership team, a Tuscan villa or a Lake Como hotel gives you privacy and long dinners. For reward trips, the Amalfi Coast and Puglia feel like a holiday. The Dolomites suit teams that would rather hike than shop.
Two practical points. First, many coastal and mountain hotels are seasonal, so a November or March retreat narrows your choices to the cities. Second, mid-August is the national holiday period, when many family-run restaurants close and beaches are full. Our leadership offsite venues guide covers how to pick the right style of property.
Budget and planning notes
The Amalfi Coast and Lake Como sit at the top of the price range, and the best villas expect a multi-night buyout. Rome, Florence and Puglia offer more choice at lower rates, especially in shoulder months. Transfers add up in Italy: Amalfi needs small vans, Venice needs boats, and countryside estates need a coach and a driver who knows the roads. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Rome and Milan are best for big groups because of their airports and hotel capacity. Tuscany and Lake Como are best for smaller teams that want a private villa or a lakeside setting.
When is the best time for an Italy offsite?
May, June, September and early October. Summer is hot and crowded, mid-August brings closures, and many coastal hotels shut from November to March.

Up to about 100 people, a large wine estate or a cluster of nearby properties can work. Bigger groups usually base in Florence and take day trips into the countryside.
How do US teams get to Italy?
Rome and Milan have nonstop flights from many US hubs, including New York, Chicago, Atlanta and others. From there, high-speed trains and coaches reach most retreat areas.
