Corporate retreat in Martinique: venues, activities and a 3-day plan

Martinique suits teams that want a Caribbean retreat with a strong sense of place: French food and language, rum distilleries, a volcano to climb and beaches on the calmer south coast. It works best for leadership offsites, incentive trips and company retreats of roughly 15 to 150 people who are happy with mid-size hotels rather than one giant resort.
The short case for it: the island is compact, the hotels around Les Trois-Ilets are close to each other and to a ferry into Fort-de-France, and the culture gives a program more texture than a standard beach week. The main trade-off is air access from the US, which is thinner than on the bigger English-speaking islands.
Why Martinique works for a team offsite
- Getting there. Martinique Aimé Césaire International Airport sits in Le Lamentin, in the middle of the island. US nonstop service is limited and often seasonal, so many teams connect through Miami, San Juan or another Caribbean hub. From the airport, Fort-de-France is roughly 15 to 20 minutes by road, Les Trois-Ilets about 35 to 45 minutes and Sainte-Anne about 45 minutes.
- A French island with Caribbean weather. Martinique is an overseas region of France, so it uses the euro and French is the working language. Hotel staff in the resort areas usually speak some English, but menus, signs and guides are French first. That is part of the charm for most groups.
- Venue clusters, not mega-resorts. Most group-friendly hotels are four-star properties with a seminar room or two, clustered at Pointe du Bout and Anse Mitan in Les Trois-Ilets. Larger groups can split across two neighboring hotels and share a dinner venue.
- Evenings are easy. Pointe du Bout has a small marina village with restaurants and bars a short walk from several hotels, and the passenger ferry across the bay makes a night in Fort-de-France simple.
- Caveats. Driving the north of the island is slow on winding roads, and hurricane season runs from June through November. Plan transfers with a buffer and keep outdoor plans flexible.
Best time for a corporate retreat in Martinique
The dry season, known locally as the carême, runs from about December through May and is the best window for a retreat. Mid-December to early January and the February school holidays are the most expensive weeks. Carnival, in the days before Ash Wednesday in February or early March, brings parades, road closures and full hotels, which is great to watch but hard to plan around. June to November is the wetter season and overlaps the Atlantic hurricane season, with September and October carrying the highest risk; some smaller hotels also close for a few weeks in that period.

Hotel Bakoua
A long-established beachfront hotel at Pointe du Bout in Les Trois-Ilets, with a professional events page for company functions and receptions. It suits leadership groups that want a classic Caribbean hotel feel, a beach bar and the marina village on foot.
Bambou Resort
A relaxed resort of colorful bungalows on Anse Mitan beach, close to Pointe du Bout. It markets itself as a seminar hotel and has restaurant and event options, which makes it a good fit for mid-size team retreats that want a casual, outdoorsy base.

Budget and planning notes
Airfare is the biggest swing factor in Martinique, since limited nonstop service means fares rise quickly when seats run short. Hotel rates peak over the Christmas holidays, the February school break and Carnival, and drop noticeably from May. Most hotels are mid-size, so groups above about 100 people often need two properties and extra coaches. Food and drink costs follow French norms, and a bilingual guide is worth budgeting for excursions. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Tell us your dates and group size and we'll send a free itemized proposal in days, with one upfront price per person, 24/7 remote support and an optional on-site coordinator. Martinique corporate retreat FAQs
Where should a company stay in Martinique?
Les Trois-Ilets, especially Pointe du Bout and Anse Mitan, is the easiest base because several group-friendly hotels, restaurants and the Fort-de-France ferry are close together. Sainte-Anne and Sainte-Luce on the south coast have better beaches but fewer evening options on foot.
Do our team members need to speak French?
No. Hotel staff in the resort areas usually speak some English, but guides, menus and signs are often in French, so book English-speaking guides for excursions.
How do we get to Martinique from the US?
Nonstop flights from the US are limited and often seasonal, so many teams connect through Miami, San Juan or another Caribbean hub. Check entry requirements for France's overseas regions before you book.
When is the best time for a Martinique offsite?
December through May is the dry season and the best window. Avoid Carnival week if you need quiet roads, and keep in mind that hurricane season runs from June through November.
