Corporate retreat locations in the Dominican Republic
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
The Dominican Republic is one of the easiest Caribbean countries to reach from the US, with a deep supply of large beach resorts that already run group programs. That makes it a natural fit for sales incentives, kickoffs and team retreats where you want everyone in one place with the beach a few steps from the meeting room.
It is more varied than its all-resort image suggests, though. Below are seven corporate retreat locations in the Dominican Republic, from big resort zones to a colonial capital, a whale-watching peninsula and a mountain town. Each has what it suits, a realistic group size, the venue style and when to go. Travel times are approximate.
Where to hold a corporate retreat in the Dominican Republic
Punta Cana and Bávaro
Best for: sales incentives, kickoffs and large team trips that want simple logistics and a beach. Group size: 30 to 1,000. Venue type: large all-inclusive beach resorts with ballrooms, conference wings and adults-only sections. Season: December to April for the driest weather; hurricane season runs June to November. Getting there: Punta Cana International has nonstop flights from many US cities, and most resorts are about 15 to 30 minutes away. Our Punta Cana retreat guide has venues and a sample plan.
Cap Cana
Best for: executive retreats and premium incentives that want a gated, more upscale setting near Punta Cana. Group size: 15 to 300. Venue type: luxury resorts, a marina village, golf and private villas. Season: December to April. Getting there: about 15 to 20 minutes by car from Punta Cana International.
La Romana
Best for: leadership offsites and golf-focused incentives that want a large resort estate and a quieter coast. Group size: 15 to 300. Venue type: a big golf and villa resort community, beach hotels in nearby Bayahibe and boat days to Isla Saona. Season: December to April. Getting there: La Romana has a small airport with limited flights; most teams fly into Punta Cana, about 1.25 hours away, or Santo Domingo, roughly 1.5 hours. See our La Romana guide for more.
Santo Domingo
Best for: working retreats and regional meetings that want history, restaurants and lower costs than the resort zones. Group size: 20 to 400. Venue type: business hotels on the Malecón and boutique hotels in restored buildings in the Zona Colonial. Season: November to April; summer is hot and humid. Getting there: about 30 to 40 minutes from Las Américas International to the Zona Colonial.
Samaná and Las Terrenas
Best for: small leadership groups that want quieter beaches, jungle waterfalls and, in season, humpback whales. Group size: 8 to 80. Venue type: boutique beach hotels, small resorts and villas. Season: January to March for whale watching in Samaná Bay; December to April overall. Getting there: about 30 to 45 minutes from El Catey airport, or roughly 2.5 hours by road from Santo Domingo.
Puerto Plata and Cabarete
Best for: active teams that want kitesurfing, a cable car up a mountain and a more local feel on the north coast. Group size: 15 to 250. Venue type: resort hotels around Playa Dorada and boutique hotels in Cabarete. Season: December to April; summer is the windiest time for kitesurfing. Getting there: about 20 minutes from Puerto Plata's airport to Playa Dorada and roughly 30 minutes to Cabarete.
Jarabacoa
Best for: small teams that want a cooler mountain retreat with river rafting, waterfall hikes and coffee farms. Group size: 8 to 60. Venue type: mountain lodges, eco-resorts and cabins. Season: year-round; it is cooler than the coast. Getting there: roughly 2 hours by road from Santo Domingo, or about 1 hour from Santiago's airport.

Choosing a Dominican Republic location by goal
For a large group that needs everything under one roof, Punta Cana and Bávaro have the deepest supply of resorts with meeting space, and the flights to match. For a premium executive trip, Cap Cana and La Romana feel more private. For a leadership team that wants quiet and nature, Samaná or Jarabacoa make a stronger impression, at the cost of a longer transfer.
Weather is the main filter. The driest, most reliable months are December to April, which is also peak season. In spring and summer, the east coast can see sargassum seaweed on some beaches, so ask resorts how they manage it. Spanish is the main language, though English is widely spoken in the resort areas.
Budget and planning notes
All-inclusive resorts make per-person costs easy to forecast, but rates rise sharply from Christmas through Easter, and group contracts often include food-and-beverage or room-block minimums. Shoulder months like May and November can be good value, with a hurricane-season caveat for the autumn. Off-site excursions, private dinners and premium alcohol are usually extra even at all-inclusive properties. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Offsiteio plans in 200+ destinations and gives you one upfront, itemized price per person, with 24/7 remote support and an optional on-site coordinator.
