Corporate retreat locations in Thailand
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Thailand is one of Asia's most complete offsite destinations: a huge capital with every kind of hotel, island resorts with conference rooms, cooler northern hills and some of the world's best food at every price point. Service culture is warm and hotels are used to large groups. For US companies the flight is long, so Thailand works best for teams with people already in Asia, or for a reward trip that justifies five nights or more.
Below are seven places to hold a corporate retreat in Thailand, with what each is best for, group sizes, venue styles and seasons. Flight and road times are rough estimates.
Where to hold a corporate retreat in Thailand
Bangkok
Best for: large meetings and culture-rich offsites with river cruises, temple visits, street-food tours and rooftop bars. Group size: 20 to 1,000. Venue type: riverside luxury hotels, business hotels with large ballrooms and major convention centers. Season: November to February. Getting there: about 30 to 60 minutes by car from Suvarnabhumi Airport, depending on traffic, or by the airport rail link. Most US travelers connect through an Asian or Middle Eastern hub.
Phuket
Best for: incentive trips and sales kickoffs that want beach resorts with ballrooms, island-hopping and Phang Nga Bay boat days. Group size: 20 to 600. Venue type: large beach resorts, integrated resort complexes and private pool villas. Season: November to April. Getting there: about 1.25 hours by air from Bangkok, then roughly 30 minutes to 1 hour by car depending on the beach. See the Phuket retreat guide.
Koh Samui
Best for: leadership retreats and smaller incentive groups that want a quieter island with hillside villas and wellness programs. Group size: 10 to 200. Venue type: luxury villa resorts, beachfront resorts and wellness retreats. Season: January to August; the Gulf side's wettest months are usually October to December. Getting there: about 1 hour by air from Bangkok to Samui's small airport. Read our Koh Samui retreat guide.
Krabi
Best for: adventure-minded teams who want limestone cliffs, kayaking, rock climbing at Railay and long-tail boat trips. Group size: 10 to 250. Venue type: beach resorts in Ao Nang and Klong Muang, plus secluded resorts reachable by boat. Season: November to April. Getting there: about 1.25 hours by air from Bangkok, then roughly 30 to 45 minutes by car.
Chiang Mai
Best for: culture and connection offsites: cooking classes, temple walks, night markets and ethical elephant sanctuaries. Group size: 10 to 300. Venue type: riverside boutique hotels, resorts among rice fields and city hotels with meeting rooms. Season: November to February; avoid the smoky burning season around March and April. Getting there: about 1.25 hours by air from Bangkok.
Hua Hin
Best for: Bangkok-based teams that want a drive-to beach and golf offsite. Group size: 20 to 400. Venue type: beachfront resorts, golf resorts and historic seaside hotels. Season: November to April, with less rain than much of the country for most of the year. Getting there: roughly 3 hours by car from Bangkok.
Khao Yai
Best for: small teams that want national park hikes, waterfalls, cooler air and vineyard visits close to Bangkok. Group size: 10 to 150. Venue type: countryside resorts, glamping sites and boutique hotels near the park. Season: November to February. Getting there: about 2.5 to 3 hours by car from Bangkok.

Best time for a corporate retreat in Thailand
November to February is the coolest and driest period for Bangkok, the north and the Andaman coast around Phuket and Krabi. March to May is very hot. The southwest monsoon brings rain to the Andaman side from about May to October, while Koh Samui on the Gulf side gets most of its rain from October to December. Songkran, the Thai New Year in mid-April, turns cities into water fights, which is fun for some teams and disruptive for others. Loy Krathong in November adds lantern and candle festivities, especially in Chiang Mai.
Choosing a Thai location by goal
For a large conference, Bangkok and Phuket have the ballrooms and hotel supply. For a reward trip, Phuket or Krabi deliver beaches and boat days. For a leadership retreat or wellness-focused offsite, Koh Samui and Khao Yai give privacy and calm. Chiang Mai suits teams that want culture and hands-on workshops. A common pattern is two nights in Bangkok for work and three on an island for the team experience.
Budget and planning notes
Thailand gives strong value on food, ground transport, spa treatments and activities, and even luxury resorts often cost less than equivalent properties in Europe or Hawaii. Peak season from December to February, especially Christmas and New Year, carries the highest island rates; the shoulder months of November and April are better value. Long-haul flights from the US are the biggest single cost, which is why longer stays make more sense. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Nearby alternatives
- Vietnam: beach resorts, food cities and Ha Long Bay at similar prices.
- Indonesia: Bali's villas, rice terraces and clifftop resorts.
- Japan: cities, onsen towns and ski resorts for a very different Asia trip.
- Hawaii: tropical resorts with a much shorter flight for US teams.
Thailand corporate retreat FAQs
Is Phuket or Koh Samui better for a company retreat?
Phuket has more large resorts, flights and activities, so it suits bigger groups. Koh Samui is quieter and more villa-focused, which works for leadership teams and smaller incentive trips.
How long does it take to fly from the US to Thailand?
Plan on a full travel day with one connection, commonly through an Asian or Middle Eastern hub. Most teams allow a rest afternoon on arrival and stay five nights or more.
When is monsoon season in Thailand?
It depends on the coast. Phuket and Krabi are wettest from about May to October, while Koh Samui's rainiest months are usually October to December.
Can a large company hold an offsite in Thailand?
Yes. Bangkok and Phuket both have hotels and convention spaces that handle several hundred people, with experienced event staff and transport providers.
