Corporate retreat in Sun Peaks: venues, activities and a 3-day plan
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Sun Peaks is a purpose-built, car-free ski village in the BC interior, a little under an hour from Kamloops. Hotels, lodges and restaurants sit along a single pedestrian street at the base of the lifts. It suits teams of roughly 15 to 150 who want a ski or mountain-bike retreat without the price tag and crowds of the better-known resorts.
The case for Sun Peaks is ease once you arrive. Nearly everything is ski-in and ski-out, the village is walkable end to end in minutes, and the group can move from a meeting room to the chairlift without a shuttle. The tradeoff is getting there: you will connect through Kamloops or drive from Kelowna.
Why Sun Peaks works for a team offsite
- A short transfer from Kamloops. Kamloops Airport has flights from Vancouver, Calgary and a few other Canadian cities, and the drive up to the village is about 50 minutes. Kelowna International, with more connections, is roughly two and a half hours away. US teams usually connect through Vancouver or Calgary.
- A compact, walkable village. Lodging, restaurants and the lifts are steps apart, so a group never needs to coordinate cars after check-in.
- A dedicated conference hotel. The largest hotel in the village has meeting rooms and catering, and smaller lodges have their own rooms for breakouts.
- A year-round mountain. Skiing in winter turns into lift-access biking, hiking and golf in summer.
- The caveat is the shoulder seasons. In spring and late fall, between ski and summer operations, many restaurants and lifts close, so the village can feel empty.
Best time for a corporate retreat in Sun Peaks
Ski season runs from roughly late November to early April, with dependable snow from mid-December. January brings a winter wine festival and some of the best value outside the holiday weeks; Christmas, New Year's and BC school spring break are the most expensive and crowded. Summer, roughly late June to early September, opens the bike park, alpine hiking and the golf course, with warm days and cool evenings. April, May, October and early November are the quietest months and are best avoided unless the plan is mostly indoors.

Budget and planning notes
Sun Peaks is generally cheaper than the largest Western Canadian ski resorts, but holiday weeks and spring break push rates up quickly. Midweek stays in January and early March, or June and September for summer programs, are usually the best value. Budget separately for lift tickets, rentals and lessons, and for the coach from Kamloops or Kelowna. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Sun Peaks corporate retreat FAQs
What airport do we fly into for Sun Peaks?
Kamloops Airport is closest, about 50 minutes by road, with flights from Vancouver and Calgary. Kelowna International has more routes and is roughly two and a half hours away.
Is Sun Peaks good for non-skiers?
Yes, if you plan for them. Snowshoeing, fat biking, Nordic trails and spa time keep non-skiers busy in winter, and summer is a full season of its own.
How large a group can Sun Peaks host?
It suits teams of about 15 to 150. The conference hotel handles the main sessions, and nearby lodges take overflow rooms and breakouts.
When should we avoid Sun Peaks?
Avoid the spring and fall shoulder seasons, when many lifts and restaurants close. Holiday weeks and school spring break are open but crowded and expensive.
