Corporate retreat in Nusa Dua: venues, activities and a 3-day plan

Nusa Dua is a planned resort enclave on Bali's southeast tip, a gated area of large beachfront hotels, gardens and a convention center. It is the area to choose when the headcount is big, the agenda is packed, or the program includes a conference, an awards night or a full sales kickoff.

Its case is reliability. Hotels sit side by side along a calm, reef-protected beach, the airport is close, and the resorts have run international conferences for years. The trade-off is that it feels like a resort bubble, so build in at least one outing for local flavor. Our Bali corporate retreat guide compares Nusa Dua with the rest of the island.

Why Nusa Dua works for a team offsite

  • Getting there. From Ngurah Rai International Airport, the toll road across the bay puts most Nusa Dua resorts about 20 to 30 minutes away. US teams connect through an Asian or Gulf hub, as there are no nonstop flights.
  • Conference-grade venues. Several resorts have ballrooms and pre-function areas, and the Westin connects directly to a convention center, so a plenary for a large group does not need a separate venue.
  • Easy for large groups. With many big hotels in one enclave, you can house overflow at a neighbor and walk or shuttle between them along the beach path.
  • Calm water. The beaches here are generally gentler than on the west coast, which makes swimming, paddleboarding and kayaking easy add-ons.
  • Caveats. Restaurants outside the hotels are limited within the enclave, so most dinners happen at resorts or in nearby Jimbaran and Tanjung Benoa. Some teams also find the area less authentic than Ubud or the villages.

Best time for a corporate retreat in Nusa Dua

April to October is the dry season, with June and September the most balanced months for weather, crowds and price. July, August and the Christmas to New Year period are peak weeks for leisure travel. The wet months, from about November to March, bring short heavy rain and humidity, but Nusa Dua's indoor event spaces make it the most weather-proof area of Bali for a program. Nyepi, Bali's Day of Silence in March, closes the airport for a day, so never schedule arrivals or departures on it. Large conferences at the convention centers can also fill the enclave, so ask about event calendars early.

Corporate retreat venues in Nusa Dua

The Westin Resort Nusa Dua, Bali

A big beachfront resort linked to the Bali International Convention Centre, with a long list of meeting and conference spaces. It is the default choice for company conferences and kickoffs with full stage, sound and breakout needs.

The Mulia

Part of a large beachfront complex in the south of the enclave that also includes Mulia Resort and Mulia Villas, with ballrooms and meeting rooms across the site. It suits incentive groups that want several room tiers and many dining choices in one place.

The Apurva Kempinski Bali

A resort built in terraces down a hillside to the beach, with grand stone architecture and a set of meeting and event venues. Its dramatic spaces make it a strong option for gala dinners and leadership summits.

The St. Regis Bali Resort

A luxury beachfront resort with a lagoon pool, butler service and event and meeting spaces. It works for executive retreats, board meetings and high-touch client events.

Sofitel Bali Nusa Dua Beach Resort

A beachfront resort near the center of the enclave with meeting and event spaces, several pools and a choice of restaurants. It is a solid all-round option for mid-size and larger company offsites.

Courtyard by Marriott Bali Nusa Dua Resort

A resort set slightly back from the beach, with pools, meeting rooms and group packages. It is the practical choice for teams watching the per-person budget who still want to be inside the Nusa Dua area.

Team activities in Nusa Dua

  • A morning on the water in Tanjung Benoa, the peninsula just north of the enclave, with banana boats, parasailing or a glass-bottom boat.
  • Paddleboarding or kayaking on the calm lagoon side of the main beach.
  • A walk to Water Blow, where waves burst through a rock channel at the edge of the enclave.
  • A team round or scramble at the Bali National Golf Club inside the resort area.
  • A visit to the Garuda Wisnu Kencana Cultural Park, home to one of the world's tallest statues.
  • A day at Pandawa Beach, reached through limestone cliffs on the south coast.
  • The Kecak fire dance at Uluwatu Temple at sunset, about 40 minutes or more by coach.
  • A seafood dinner on the sand at Jimbaran Bay, roughly 20 to 30 minutes away.

  • Arrivals and quick transfers to the resort.
  • Registration desk and room drops, then free time at the beach.
  • Welcome reception on a resort lawn, with a leadership opening.

Day 2: Full program day

  • Plenary in the ballroom, then team breakouts.
  • Afternoon split between water sports, golf or the spa.
  • Coaches to Uluwatu for the Kecak dance, then dinner at Jimbaran Bay.

Day 3: Wrap up

  • Closing session and awards over brunch.
  • Staggered transfers back to the airport.

To add a culture-heavy second half, move the group to Ubud for two nights.

Budget and planning notes

Large Nusa Dua resorts usually price groups on food-and-beverage minimums and meeting packages, so the size of the program matters as much as the room rate. Peak summer and the year-end holidays cost most, and the wet season often brings better group terms. Stage, audio-visual and convention center hire can rival the hotel bill for a big conference, while short airport transfers keep transport costs down. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately.
