Corporate retreat in Ko Olina: venues, activities and a 3-day plan
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Ko Olina is a planned resort on Oahu's sunny west coast, built around four man-made lagoons with calm, protected swimming, a marina and a golf club. It sits about half an hour from Honolulu's airport but feels like a separate world from Waikiki: quieter, more spread out and focused on the resorts.
It suits incentive trips, company meetings and family-friendly team offsites from about 20 to several hundred people who want Hawaii's easiest air access without city crowds. The trade-off is that there is little outside the resort gates, so the program needs to bring the energy.
Why Ko Olina works for a team offsite
- The easiest flight in Hawaii. Daniel K. Inouye International (HNL) has the most mainland nonstops of any airport in the state. Ko Olina is about 25 to 35 minutes away by car.
- Calm water. The lagoons are sheltered by rock breakwaters, so even nervous swimmers can join an ocean afternoon.
- Two strong group resorts. A Four Seasons and Disney's Aulani both run meetings programs and sit side by side.
- Self-contained. Golf, the marina, restaurants and a lagoon-side walking path keep most of the program inside the resort.
- The caveat is distance from the city. Honolulu's restaurants and nightlife are 40 minutes or more away in traffic, and the west side is hot and dry.
Best time for a corporate retreat in Ko Olina
The west side is one of the driest parts of Oahu, so weather is rarely the problem. Spring and fall, April to early June and September to early November, bring the best group rates. Summer and school holidays fill the family-oriented resorts, and the Christmas to New Year period is the most expensive of the year. December to April is whale season. Hurricane season runs June through November.
Corporate retreat venues in Ko Olina
Four Seasons Resort Oahu at Ko Olina
A luxury tower resort on the first lagoon, whose official fact sheet lists 16,874 square feet of indoor and outdoor function space and golf privileges at the Ko Olina Golf Club. It suits leadership retreats and premium incentives.
Aulani, A Disney Resort & Spa
Disney's Hawaii resort, with indoor and outdoor meeting options, special group rates and a Disney Meetings & Events team. Strong for incentive trips that include families, and for company meetings that want polished production.
Lanikuhonua
A cultural estate and nature preserve beside the Four Seasons, dedicated to Hawaiian culture, with private events on its lawns and coconut groves. It is the most distinctive setting in Ko Olina for a welcome dinner or closing ceremony.
Wet'n'Wild Hawaii (nearby, about 10 minutes)
A water park in Kapolei with a group events program. Book it for an informal, noisy team afternoon that breaks up the sessions.
| Venue | Area | Style | Good fit for |
|---|---|---|---|
| Four Seasons Oahu | Ko Olina lagoons | Luxury resort | Leadership, incentives |
| Aulani | Ko Olina lagoons | Family resort | Incentives with families |
| Lanikuhonua | Ko Olina | Cultural estate | Dinners and ceremonies |
| Wet'n'Wild Hawaii | Kapolei | Water park | Casual team afternoons |
Ko Olina has fewer group venues than Waikiki, but they are concentrated: a team can walk between the two resorts and the cultural estate along the lagoon path. For a big group, a common setup is to hold the plenary at one resort and the closing event at Lanikuhonua.

Two practical notes for planners. First, the resorts sit on separate lagoons, so check walking times between your session room and any off-property dinner before you finalize the run of show. Second, the west side gets the strongest afternoon sun on Oahu; schedule outdoor sessions before 10 a.m. or after 4 p.m., and ask the venue for shaded lawn space or tents.
Team activities in Ko Olina

- A private boat charter from Ko Olina Marina for snorkeling and, in winter, whale watching.
- A golf scramble at the Ko Olina Golf Club.
- A hike to Ka'ena Point along the far northwest coast, early before the heat.
- A visit to Pearl Harbor and the USS Arizona Memorial, about 30 minutes east.
- A Hawaiian cultural program at Lanikuhonua.
- A sunset walk on the lagoon path to end a working day.
- A dinner in Honolulu's Kaka'ako or Chinatown with a chartered coach, for groups that want a night in the city.

Budget and planning notes
Ko Olina pricing tracks the two big resorts, with luxury rates at the Four Seasons and family-resort pricing at Aulani; holidays and summer are the peak. Because nearly every meal is inside the resort, food-and-beverage minimums dominate the budget. Coaches into Honolulu for a night out are a separate line. The upside is that HNL's many nonstops often keep airfare lower than for other islands. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Ko Olina corporate retreat FAQs
How far is Ko Olina from Honolulu airport?
About 25 to 35 minutes by car, depending on traffic on the freeway west.
Is Ko Olina better than Waikiki for a company retreat?
Ko Olina is quieter and better for a focused, resort-based program. Waikiki has more hotels, restaurants and nightlife within walking distance.
Is Ko Olina good for families on an incentive trip?
Yes. The calm lagoons and Aulani's family programs make it one of the easiest places in Hawaii to include partners and children.
How many nights should a Ko Olina retreat be?
Three nights works for West Coast teams; four is better for groups flying from further east. A fourth night also leaves room for a half-day trip into Honolulu or to the North Shore without cutting into working sessions.
