Corporate retreat in Key Largo: venues, activities and a 3-day plan
Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.
Key Largo is the first and longest island of the Florida Keys, the place where the mainland road reaches the reef. It is the easiest Keys destination for a team offsite: a short drive from Miami, bayside resorts with meeting rooms, and some of the best snorkeling and diving in the continental US just offshore. Groups of about 10 to 150 people fit well.
If your aim is to get a distributed team onto clear water with the least travel friction, Key Largo is hard to beat. Teams that want the full island-chain trip should also read our Florida Keys guide, which covers stops farther south.
Why Key Largo works for a team offsite
- Shortest Keys transfer. Miami International is about an hour to 75 minutes away by road, and Fort Lauderdale is roughly an hour and a half. Both airports have nonstop service from nearly every major US city.
- Bayside resorts with real meeting space. The main resorts sit on Florida Bay, with lawns and docks for events and conference rooms for working days.
- Reef access. John Pennekamp Coral Reef State Park and the surrounding marine sanctuary make snorkel and glass-bottom boat trips easy to schedule.
- Sunsets at dinner. The bay side faces west, so a dinner on the lawn lines up with sunset most of the year.
- The caveat is sameness of setting. Key Largo is more about water than walkable streets. Teams that want a town to wander in the evening may prefer Key West.
Best time for a corporate retreat in Key Largo
The best weather runs from December through April, when days are dry and warm and the water is clear. That is also peak season, with spring break and winter holidays pushing up rates. May and early June are good value with warmer water. Hurricane season lasts from June through November, with the most activity from mid-August to early October; build cancellation flexibility into those months. Windy days can cancel reef trips at any time of year, so keep a backup activity.

Budget and planning notes
Key Largo is usually the most affordable way to bring a group to the Keys because transfers are short and Miami fares are competitive. Rates still climb sharply in winter and around spring break, while late spring offers better value. Boat-based activities are priced per vessel, so larger teams need several charters at once. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Tell us your dates and we will put together a free itemized proposal in days, with one upfront price per person, 24/7 remote support and an optional on-site coordinator. Our corporate retreat cost guide shows where the money goes.

Key Largo corporate retreat FAQs
How far is Key Largo from Miami International Airport?
About an hour to 75 minutes by road, depending on traffic and which part of Key Largo you stay in.
Is Key Largo good for non-swimmers?
Yes. Glass-bottom boat tours, mangrove kayaking, airboat rides and sunset sails all work for people who prefer to stay dry.
Should we stay on the bay side or the ocean side?
The main Key Largo resorts are on the bay side, which brings sunsets and calm water. For an ocean beach, look at resorts in nearby Islamorada.
How many days is right for a Key Largo offsite?
Three days works well because the transfer is short. Add a day if you want both a reef trip and an Everglades outing.
