Corporate retreat in Ketchum: venues, activities and a 3-day plan

Done-for-you team offsites with one itemized price per person and 24/7 remote support. Free proposal in days.

Ketchum is the working town at the base of Bald Mountain, a mile or so from the Sun Valley Resort grounds. It suits leadership offsites, board retreats and small-to-mid-size team trips that want mountain air, good restaurants within walking distance and a town that feels lived in rather than built for visitors.

Our Sun Valley guide covers the resort itself. This page is for teams that would rather sleep in town: you trade the resort's convention scale for independent hotels, a main street full of galleries and bars, and lift access a few minutes away.

Why Ketchum works for a team offsite

  • A small airport close by. Friedman Memorial Airport in Hailey is about 20 to 25 minutes south, with seasonal nonstops from a handful of western hubs such as Seattle, Salt Lake City, Denver and California cities. Boise is the backup, roughly 2.5 to 3 hours by road.
  • Walkable base. Most hotels sit within a few blocks of Main Street, so groups can walk to dinner and the River Run lift base is a short shuttle ride.
  • Venues sized for focused groups. Town hotels have boardrooms and small event spaces suited to teams of about 10 to 60; the resort next door takes larger meetings.
  • Evenings without logistics. Restaurants, wine bars and saloons cluster downtown, which keeps dine-arounds simple and cheap to run.
  • Caveats: altitude and flights. Ketchum sits near 5,800 feet, so plan water and an easy first afternoon. Winter flights into Hailey can divert to Twin Falls or Boise in bad weather, so build a buffer into travel days.

Best time for a corporate retreat in Ketchum

Late June through September is prime: dry, warm days, cool nights and every trail open. Early July is the busiest stretch, as a well-known invitation-only business conference and summer holidays fill rooms across the valley, so book months ahead. Wagon Days over Labor Day weekend draws crowds to Main Street. Late December through March is ski season, with peak rates around the holidays and Presidents' Day. The shoulder seasons, roughly mid-April to late May and late October to mid-December, are quiet and cheaper, but some restaurants close and trails are muddy.

Corporate retreat venues in Ketchum

Limelight Hotel Ketchum

A modern lodge-style hotel downtown with meeting spaces and a busy lounge that acts as a social hub after sessions. It suits tech and growth-stage teams that want contemporary rooms, an easy walk to restaurants and quick access to Bald Mountain.

Hotel Ketchum

A relaxed, renovated hotel at the edge of downtown that markets itself as a base for group getaways, with indoor and outdoor gathering spaces and its own groups-and-events request process. It is a good mid-priced choice for teams that want to take over most of a property.

Knob Hill Inn

An Alpine-style inn on the hill above Main Street with a restaurant, weddings and events, and a group program. Its smaller scale suits executive teams and boards that want quiet and a more personal level of service.

Sun Valley Resort (next door, about 5 minutes)

The historic resort just east of town, with the Sun Valley Lodge, Sun Valley Inn, a groups and conventions team and specialty venues such as the Roundhouse on Bald Mountain. Use it for larger groups, or book its venues for a dinner while sleeping in Ketchum.

Galena Lodge (nearby, about 30 minutes)

A backcountry lodge north of Ketchum on the road toward Galena Summit, known for Nordic skiing, mountain biking, yurts and special event dinners. It works as an afternoon outing with a group meal rather than a lodging base.

Budget and planning notes

Ketchum costs are driven by two calendars: ski holidays in winter and the early July rush in summer. Flights into Hailey are often pricier than into Boise, but the long drive from Boise adds transfer costs and most of a day, so compare total cost rather than airfare alone. Spring and fall bring the best hotel rates but fewer open restaurants. Offsiteio trips start from about $999 per person depending on destination, with flights quoted separately. Share your group size and preferred months and we will build a free itemized proposal in days, with one upfront price per person, 24/7 remote support while you travel and an optional on-site coordinator.
